Residential care

Residential care services provide places people can live and receive the support they need. In most instances the person you support will move to a residential service for long-term care. These services can also sometimes be used for a short time to give you or the person you support a break.

Options for residential care vary depending on the assessed needs of the person you support, and include:

Disability residential support services

Residential care services for people with an intellectual, physical and/ or sensory disability (for example, Deaf and/ or blind).

Residential care services for older people

Residential care services for older people, usually aged 65 and over. Younger people with similar needs to older people sometimes use these services too.

Mental health residential support services

Residential care options for people with needs related to mental health. For the most part, these services are not long-term arrangements.
