Your rights as a tenant
The Department of Building and Housing offers advice and information for tenants and landlords. You can download an information sheet about your rights from its website at www.dbh.govt.nz . You can also download a free booklet explaining the basics of tenancy law. This booklet is available in nine languages. If you need help with a tenant or boarder issue, contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
